냄새, 향기를 뜻하는 smell, scent, odor 등은 약간씩 그 의미가 다르다고 들었습니다. 차이점을 알려주세요.

1) smell - 냄새를 말할 때 쓰는 가장 일반적인 말.     Ex. foul smells(고약한 냄새)/ fresh smells(신선한 냄새)    2) scent - 주로 사람이나 동ㆍ식물이 발산하는 희미한 냄새를 가리키며, 사냥개가 느끼는 짐승의 냄새를 가리키기도 한다. Ex. the scent fo a woman(여인의 향기)/ The dogs followed the fox by scent.(개들은 냄새로 여우를 쫓았다.)    3) odor - 사물의 화학적 특성으로 발산하는 냄새로 좋은 냄새든 불쾌한 냄새든 두가지 모두 적용된다. 단, 형용사 odorous는 쾌적한 향기만을 가리킨다.    4) fragrance - 꽃 등이 발산하는 좋은 향기.    5) perfume -  장미꽃 등의 진하며 상쾌한 향기로 '향수'라는 의미도 있다.    6) aroma - 주위에 퍼지는 방향(芳香)이나 향기. 술이나 꽃을 지칭할 때 많이 쓰이며 odor보다 좀 더 직접적이며 톡 쏘는 듯한 날카로운 냄새를 뜻한다.
